AXCIA-CYBER-26 – Batch 5: CSAM & Cyber Law
AXCIA-CYBER-26 – Batch 5: CSAM & Cyber Law is part of the AXCIA – Annual Cyber Exercise for Investigating Agencies, jointly organised by the Kerala Police (Cyber Operations Division) and the Indian Institute of Information Technology Kottayam.
This specialised week focuses on the investigation of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) offences and the legal frameworks governing cyber crime investigations. The programme addresses critical challenges faced by law-enforcement agencies in detecting, investigating, and prosecuting CSAM cases involving online platforms, encrypted communications, dark web marketplaces, cloud storage, social media, and peer-to-peer networks.
The programme integrates Indian cyber laws and child protection statutes, including relevant provisions of the IT Act, IPC, POCSO Act, BNSS/BNS, and international cooperation mechanisms. Participants receive hands-on exposure to CSAM identification, victim-centric investigation approaches, digital evidence preservation, hashing and classification of illicit content, platform takedown processes, attribution techniques, and legal documentation. Emphasis is placed on chain of custody, admissibility of digital evidence, ethical handling of sensitive material, inter-agency coordination, and court-ready forensic and legal reporting, aligned with law-enforcement SOPs and judicial requirements.
